MINI/NURSERY

This has been such a great summer for the Mini/Nursery group and we don't want it to endWe have had so much fun at all of our activities all summer long. Kirsten Petrow and Tyler Klein love the big Red slide and look forward to our time there.  When we head to fun town Gavin Hein, Claire Sclafani and Luke Rizzi have huge smiles on their faces.  You can't stop their fun when riding the cars and playing in the houses.  Arts and Crafts in a favorite for our campers especially Vanessa Russo and Sophia Ross who cannot wait to show off their creativity here.  When you see the Mini/Nursery group at the pools, look for Gianna McIntosh and Natalie Kalman who enjoy splashing and having fun in the water.  Over on the tennis courts you can see Paul Zorn and Nicholas Costa play like champs.  At drama the Mini/Nursery group loves to roll play.  Kaitlyn Schuessler, Sophia Stadler, Abigail Christie and Abigail Bosshard are our future actresses, they love the stage.  Over on the basketball courts, Ryan Morrissey, Lucas Delaney, Carson Campbell and Anthony Calabro are always ready for a great game of hoops.  Dancing is a favorite for Allesia Rodriguez.  She loves practicing our routine for the Dance Show.  Anna Sclafani and Taylor Califano love doing forward rolls and walking on the balance beam at gymnastics.  They are all ready for the show!

We are so sad to see the summer end but we are excited that we are leaving camp with wonderful memories and new friends!!

GK

Our summer at Brookhaven has been a wonderful one! We have stayed busy creating some awesome camp memories. In our second half of camp we have competed in the Jr. Camp Olympics, wore leis for Hawaiian Day, dressed up as our favorite superheroes, tied to come in first place on treasure hunt day and had a blast celebrating everyone’s birthday!  GK even scored a special invite to perform in the Sr. Camp drama show and has been hard at work learning the choreography to “Be Our Guest”!

At gymnastics Halli Silberman and Leah Pomponio have been hard at work perfecting the routine.  Lilli Kircher, Scarlett Melia and Aubrey Melito have risen to be our group’s soccer stars!  Makayla Santiago and Elyssa Montazem have been busy working on their dance moves while Sophia Shaeffer and Lexi Nijkamp have been creating masterpieces at arts and crafts!

At swim Ashley Pfaffe, Jocelyn Jacoby, Andie Pedatella and Sadie Truocchio have improved immensely on their front strokes and back floats. Leah Tumolo and Danielle O’Sullivan are having a blast at camp and always enjoy feeding the animals over at nature.

Camp has been great and we all cannot believe that it is over.  We cannot wait to see you all in G1 in the summer of 2012!

BK

BK has all the makings of a wonderful group of boys, starting with our newest addition, Ben Schuierer he made friends quickly and had a blast at camp! Our boys continue to make waves in the pool. Some of our champion swimmers are Chayse Carpino, James Kelton, Jake Furrer, Richard Siems, Corey Volper, Caleb White and Jacob Miller.  Adding to this list is our great softball players. Shane Meeks, Zachary Froberg, Nicholas Gounaris, Zachary Papadakis and Charles Oehler have an amazing swing!

Kyle Agnew and Kyle May have become great friends as well as great athletes at the Obstacle Course and Slide. They are getting faster and faster at completing the obstacle course.  Robbie Ball is having a ball at Jr. Arts and Crafts along with his friends William Becherer and Dylan Anderson. Their art work is phenomenal!  Vinny Duran, Bryce Flanagan and Robert Sciulli have proven to be fast and speedy at FunTown. Way to go guys!  Matthew Taylor was having so much fun at BCDC that he extended his time at camp.  He is an amazing friend and swimmer along with his pals Grant Taylor, Casey Bracken and Jospeh Sirico. These boys love all that we do at camp!  We have made great memories this second half and had a CAMP-TASTIC SUMMER!!  Good luck in Kindergarten boys!!

G1

Time flies when you’re having fun!!!! That is exactly what happened to the G1 girls who made so many fond memories this summer at BCDC.

Whether it was Jr. Camp Olympics, where we all had a blast competing and showing great ‘sports-campman-ship’, Super Hero Day where many of the G1 girls were either super campers, or superheroes or Birthday Ball where everyone’s birthday was celebrated with cupcakes and a candy hunt, this summer was full of F-U-N!!!!

The G1 girls love ga-ga and wiffle-ball.  Erin Peskin, Sophia Over and Emily Cashel can be found going back and forth between these two areas with smiles’ on their faces.  When it’s time for swim Emma Parente, Raichel Fox and Isabella Smith show us their Olympic swimming skills.  Samantha Mazur, Lilly Savnik and Caitlin O’Hagan can be found practicing back-flips, cartwheels and front rolls with finesse at gymnastics. If you are ever looking for a great game of hockey play with Isabella Calabro, Natalie May and Carlie Manzella.  These girls always keep their sticks ready and their eyes on the ball.  Leah Ferrara, Anna Dratell and Lily Rubenstein are our future veterinarians; whenever G1 is at nature these girls can be found talking, feeding, and petting the animals.

Whenever we are at dance Ava Bellera, Kaitlin Hoey and Sara Christie can be found bringing down the dance tent with their dance moves, these girls love to boogie.  Isabella Cashel and Kaitlyn Aberle have perfected their tennis skills.  Make sure you don’t blink when they’re serving a ball!!  Softball with Ty-Aja Wilson, Amaya Hollington, and Emma Mosca is a blast.  These girls have great arms.  Trinity Castle, Gianna Benedetto and Emily Ammann can be found on the soccer field dribbling from one end of the field to the other with ease. Isabella Soto-Lopez, Erin Neimeth and Amanda Abbey are usually playing a great game of H.O.R.S.E. at basketball.  These girls can shoot from anywhere on the basketball court and make the shot!!!

This summer was filled with lots of laughter, and big smiles.  G1, Summer 2011 was definitely our year.  Even though summer is over, never forget about your other family at BCDC, because we won’t forget about you.   Good luck in school this year.  WE LOVE ALL YOU GIRLS!!! G1 ROCKED BROOKHAVEN!!!

B1

The B1 campers have had a great time the last few weeks of Summer 2011 and we have made some wonderful memories together! Every camper has a special place in the group and has contributed to the fun had by all!

Our softball team wouldn’t be complete without Timothy Zelinski, Drew Feinstein and Anthony Morano! They are skilled in the outfield always keep the team spirit alive! Our strong batters include Jacob Rentz and James Massaro! They always guarantee a hit!

The tennis team is held strong by the forehands of Hunter Wilson and Liam Schuessler and the backhands of Ryan Whiffen and Connor Buonconsiglio! We are lucky to have them and their practice ethic is unstoppable!  Salvatore Meloni and Shane Sukow have developed strong serves and could teach a thing or two to Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal!

Some of our hockey stars could earn a spot on the NY Islanders team!  Ivan Lopez and Hunter Prescott are great hockey players alongside Carlo Ponce and Brandon Makowski. Ryan Pfister and Andrew Trebilcock complete the team with their fast hockey puck skills!

Patrick Carrier and Matthew Weiner are the quickest sprinters and keep our soccer team on top!  Salvatore Morande and Owen Lazarus are great kickers and make sure our goalies are always on their game.  Logan O’Sullivan and Logan Postel are wonderful teammates and make sure their team is shooting on the correct goal and running in the right direction!

Boating requires a great deal of etiquette which has been perfected by J. Alexander Garcia and Anthony Costa.  Nicholas Oliva and Nicholas Kozlowski pass the time by pointing out parts of nature that the other boaters might have missed.  Evan Riley and Riley McGregor also enjoy our time at boating and are great at following directions and understanding the importance of having fun safely.

Patrick Brideson, Nicolas Justice, Zachary Horton and Austin Sullivan could share a practice with the Olympic swimmers! They are very skilled swimmers.  Ian Horton, Ryan Bender and Sam Fiore love to play and have fun during free swim.

We cannot believe the summer is over.  We are sad to say goodbye to Brookhaven Country Day Camp summer of 2011.  Have a great school year in 1st grade.  See you next summer!!

G2

The girls in the G2 group have been having an amazing time at camp this year! We are sad knowing that the summer season is almost over and soon we will be going back to school. But in the meantime we plan on enjoying the rest of camp!

Our new gymnastics routine, choreographed by Beth Anne, is absolutely amazing, and Sophia Auffret, Julianna Russo, Chelsey Weber, Lindsay Desiano, Arianna Rodriguez, Samantha Sacks and Lily Ellman are quite the little gymnasts!  Summer Potvin always gives it all she’s got on the dance floor. Our soon to be on Broadway star at Drama is Sophie Meeks.

Making passes and scoring goals are our soccer stars Nicole Koepper, Savannah Prescott and Hannah Ehlich.  We have Jalynn Williams who could shoot hoops all day at the basketball court, and Taylor Dixon and Liliana Bosshard scoring homeruns on the softball field. Chloe Gibbons and Olivia Baumann are terrific on the court playing volleyball.

We have a very large group of fabulous swimmers who really enjoy being in the pool, and we are happy to say that many of the girls have moved up a level throughout the summer.  Our fish are Laura Alt, Genesis DeCastro, Alyssa Evans, Jessica Penyy, Arianna Polychronakos, Daniella Procaccini, Celia Caputo, Abigail Devita, Lanie Furrer, Kennedy Royal, Amelia Lowder, Isadora Luce, Madison Schubert, Heather Sponton, and Collette Williamson.  They would stay in the pool all day if they had the opportunity!

Samantha Cavorti and Molly Grow are having a great time expressing their artistic sides at Arts & Crafts, while Samantha Steiner loves feeding the animals at our nature center.

The second half of camp has been really great and as you can see we had tons of fun!

B2

The second half of camping is coming to an end and we all can’t believe how quickly it flew by!  We have all learned a lot from each other and are already planning for our camp adventures next summer!

Our group was full of soccer superstars this half of camp.  Landon Alpert and Thomas Engel loved passing the ball to each other on the field and trying to score a goal on our goal keeper, David RumseyLuke Nespole and Ryan Allen liked to show off their fancy feet with their soccer skills, while Preston Gerena has been a true natural on the field.

Head over to the playground and you could always find Ryan Santos and Ethan Schatz running around having a great time.  Nicholas Walker loved gathering the other campers, like Zachary Poli, in a fun game of cops and robbers.  We may have the next Adam Sandler among our campers!  Julian Fox was often found cracking the other kids up with his funny jokes!

Sports were always a big hit among the kids!  Aaron Borsuk showed real promise during the hockey portion of our day.  James Morrissey and Michael Stratemeier were huge stand-outs during softball while Kevin Hough knocked the ball out of the park during wiffle ball!

The pool portions of our day we’re greatly enjoyed by all.  Andrew Fasano loved to slam dunk in our pool basketball net like Michael Jordan. Whether it was freestyle, back stroke, or a doggie paddle, you could always see Connor Vanella, Thomas Anzalone, Tariq Earl and Joshua Powers darting across the pool with great speed!  Sometimes we even mistook them for fish in our pools!

There is nothing quite like being out on the open waters.  Jory Russo and Calvin Pedatella loved rowing out on the lake to get the best view of the camp.  Always right behind them was Philip Hirst, Evan Adams and Casey Fleischer.  They loved searching for turtles and other creatures on their adventures.  Boating was also a big hit with Jake Morreale and Ethan Vermaat! They had fun avoiding the lily pads, and the other excited boaters, on the lake!

You can’t beat a game of Ga-Ga with these energetic boys!  Ryan Lynch and Mark Pisano are true champions at this fun game.  Austin Wenz was sure not to get hit by the ball when Michael Tesser or Tyler Young hit it towards him because that would mean he was out of the game!  Nathan Barry also loved grabbing the Ga-Ga ball out of the air to gain the control in the game!

We had many creative campers in our group this summer.  Always eager to make something extra cool Aidan McGregor liked molding clay during ceramics.  To be, or not to be? That is the question for Shane Von Tronk who truly shines during drama.

For our campers that loved to be challenged, the obstacle course and slide were their favorite activity.  Mason Nijkamp tore through the seemingly impossible course and Evan Klein hummed the theme to Indiana Jones while destroying the menacing obstacles in his path.  Bouncing down the big red slide was always fun for Warren Coburn and Matthew Maiorano.  They loved the thrill of the descent!

We all had an amazing summer, and had many wonderful experiences!  We hope that all the boys can consciously take away some great positive life views and hold onto them for years to come…oh, and we also had SUPER FUN!  Hope to see you all back again next year as bigger, better, and even more awesome 3rd Graders!

G3

What a wonderful summer G3 has had!  While we are sad to see it end, we are already looking forward to next year and a whole new summer of adventure.

Boating has become a favorite activity for Autumn Herkommer and Chelsea Agnew as they discoverd the joy of paddling their own boats.  Swimming is another popular water sport at camp and Sarah Kruzynski is always willing to demonstrate her delightful dolphin kick.  We are all waiting for Gabriella Mosca to grow gills since she can make it across the entire deep end of the pool underwater.  When it’s time to dive Amanda Gentile, Vivian Fritz and Gina Borzelleri lead the way with dazzling dives.  Hand stands are fun in the pool and Emma Grace Volper does an amazing job of showing us how they are done.

Sports are still an important part of our day and we have many talented athletes.  Alexa Romero, Irina Giacoia and Chayanne Orengo are always ready to work on their forehand, backhand and volley at tennis.   Mia Delaney, Mia Seitles and Paige Potvin love to play soccer.  With these girls on the field, the goals really add up.   Hockey is another sport where we love to score goals.  Haley Menihan and Grace Polak are excellent hockey players but it is still a challenge to score against our talented goalies, Bianca Mc Carthy, Elizabeth Combs and Madison Feinstein. Although we score baskets instead of goals at basketball, we still have a great time.  Talia Capolino and Danielle Scarfogliero can always be counted on to make their shot.  Ga-Ga is as popular as ever.  It is hard to stay in the game when playing against Elaina Varriale and Emma Unverzagt.  The challenges at the obstacle course are many but Olivia Paquette, Morgan Schroder and Skyler Yuengling make it look easy as they travel through the course.

We make some amazing projects at arts and crafts and we have some very talented girls.  Makenna Savnik created an entire zoo along the sides of her tissue box project while Alicia Sanzone showed her talent at ceramics with her 3D animal project.  The performing arts are also popular and Hannah Cianciotto does some dramatic dancing during freeze dance.  She is a pleasure to watch.  Meanwhile we all “Love Rock and Roll” but Kate Morano and Deanna Kos really do a great job with our dance.  Tumbling away at gymnastics you are sure to find Cassidy Trucchio and Angelic Baez.  Great job girls!

We wish you all a great year in 3rd grade and we hope to see you around camp next summer.

B3

If you want to know the campers who have creativity and athleticism, then don’t look any further

than the boys of B3!

Soccer can be a tough sport but not when it comes to Nico Aliotta,Thomas Cashel, Benjamin Link, Oscar Fishman and Kyle Jones.  They have the speed to run fast and the focus to watch where the ball goes.  They also have strong kicks which is perfect when you want the ball to go across the field.  If you play Softball with B3, you better look out for John Mc Guire, Benjamin Mercado, David Schubert, Alex Schuierer and Robert Capp.  These boys have the skills both at bat and in the outfield.  They may be ready for the Majors real soon!  When it comes to playing the Ga-Ga, watch out for Donimick Benedetto, Daniel Weiner and James Walsh. They know how to avoid the ball easily as well as get people out quickly.  Wiffle Ball is nothing without Jack Rutigliano and Connor Bono.  They know how to catch the ball from high in the air and know just how to get a good hit when they are up at bat.

Drama is entertaining when it comes to Ryan Henzel, Duncan Byrne, Connor Postel, Peter Scalabrino and Zachary Adelson.  They enjoy acting and they are always ready to focus on a character when they are role playing.  When it comes to creativity at Ceramics, Evan Fisher, Cameron Lee, Russell Lipsky, Christopher Naughtin and Connor Roach sure know how to make masterpieces.  They put a lot of effort in all the projects they work on.

Andrew Steiner, Jonathan Fischer, Noah Goldstein, Jeremy Finkelstein and Thomas Seeley are awesome at golf.  They have patience at the sport and hit the ball just hard enough to go straight towards the hole.  Jordan Sundel, Trevor Eagen, Cayden Mulroy, Nicholas San Andres and Markens Claude have wonderful basketball skills.  They dribble, run fast and know when to pass and shoot.  If you want to play challenging games of hockey then play against Robert Honey, Thomas Keeling, Aiden Neimeth, Ryan Singleton and Brendan Hoey. They know how to steal the ball and sneak up on the goalie to score.
Matthew Evans, Brian Taylor, Spencer Lebit, Jordan Carrasquillo and Lucas Moghadam Love getting in the water at the pool and swim like fish.  At times they can hold their breath long underwater which sometimes makes you wonder if they have gills.  Jr. Arts and Crafts is loved by Joshua ArchibaldChristian Giacobbe, Joey De Rosa, Robert Becherer and Jordan Adelson.  They love to draw, color and make their art work unique.

It is hard to believe that 8 weeks of camp is already over.  All the boys made wonderful memories this summer and are already eager to make new memories in Senior Camp over the summer of 2012!!!!

Group Leader:  Chris Corujo

B-4

Where has the summer gone? The first 4 weeks at BCDC were Fantastic… But the Final 4 weeks were even better! Traditions such as the Apache Relay really enriched all of our experiences at BCDC this past summer. The final 4 weeks really allowed the campers of B-4 to hone their skills in their favorite activities so they can be ready to compete next summer again!

Troy Vanderlofske and Philip Walsh have mastered the art of the Frisbee toss! Their accuracy is easily seen as they launch Frisbees at one another in our North Soccer field. At in-line Skating Mark Owens and Joey Manzella have been getting big air off our ramps and landing every single time! Hayden Taylor, and Christian Tabacco have become full fledged Captains in our kayaks and row boats! Cameron Bloomfield and Ben Boellner are our resident scientists showcasing all the kool and crazy insects that are all over camp!

Over in our ga-ga ring you better watch out for incoming missiles hit by our All Star squad of Robert Tirado, Justin Ammann, Bryan O’Braskin and Timothy Braun. They’ll get anyone out! Over at Drama we may see Brenden Bracken, Adam Schein, or Christopher O’ Hagan nominated for a Golden Globe for their performances in Beauty and the Beast!

With a swing Alex Rodrigues would be jealous of and an arm in the outfield Vladimir Guerro has in the outfield the following boys are sure to go on to do big things in baseball: Kyle Gray, Jacob Klamm, Rafael Rodriguez and Daniel Perez. Hitting 3’s from downtown are our resident basketball guru’s Elijah Stokley, Jackson Neftleberg, and Michael Evans! Holding down the goalie spots in our hockey rink are the brick walls of Jacob Janoff, Ben Carrier, and Allen Johannsen! While Michael Gibbons, Andrew Bryan and Braedon  Dolan score goals from the midpoint of our South soccer field.

Lastly, our Olympic Swimmers who are as fast as fish include; Ryan Engel, Aiden Merlos, Kyle Colver, Matthew Campo, Adam Parente and Andrew Friedman! This past summer at BCDC 2011 has been very special. I would like to Thank all campers and people involved to help make our time this past summer well spent : )

Where has the summer gone? It only feels like yesterday that everyone was walking into camp for the first time. It has been an exciting summer this year at Brookhaven Country Day Camp, with lots of interesting and wonderful experiences that we will all carry with us forever.

This summer, hanging out by the pool was a perfect way to beat the heat. You could catch Joe Perez, Jared Becker, Ethan Boehm, and Matthew Walker working on perfecting their backstroke. At boating, you could find Michael Balsamo and Erik Andersen racing around the island with their kayaks.

Our boys have been very busy this year at arts and crafts, designing and creating unique projects that rivaled Picasso. Catch Matthew Sirico and Thomas Fasano down there and see them in action. In Ceramics, Michael Kruzynski, Gabriel Smith, and Eric Greco have been creating everything from bowls to sports symbols. Archery is always a hit, with Daniel Roach and Michael Daniels getting that bulls eye! In drama Michael Koenig, Michael Pizzichemi, Tyler Haug, and Colin McCready have been working hard on these years’ shows, Puss in Boots and Beauty and the Beast. Come see what they are all about!

In hockey our boys Will Sukow and Joshua Tesser are easily showing they could take on any major NHL team. The ga-ga pit  is where William Murphy, Emmett Moloney, Sean Allen, Xavier Thompson, Henry Shemet, Richard Baumann, and Eric Stenzel throw down and shoot those balls. The tennis stars Kyle Ress-Liere, Nicholas McCarthy, and Nicholas Parks are so skilled with their backhand you would think you were at Wimbledon. At basketball Griffin Bell and Dylan Kos will “Knock you Out” with the perfect layup. Our soccer stars include Bryce Wadsworth and James Roach taking shots and getting a gooooooooal! At softball is where you find Brett Bellera and Zach Lauritano smashing balls right outta the park.

With all the activities going on this summer, from Halloween Day to Carnival Day, it really is surprising to believe that summer is over. We will all leave camp this summer with fond memories that will last us a lifetime.

G5

The first half of camp was a blast and the second half is proving to be even better! With Apache Relay, Carnival Day and other fun and exciting activities happening G5 is ready to close out the summer with a bang!

The performers in the group have continued to show case their talents daily! Skylar Gerena, Viviana Jenkins, Skylar Papele and Brooke Papele are stepping up and planning an amazing performance. While Kayla Sullivan, Renee Paskoff and Jessie Deringer continue to awe everyone on the gymnastics mats. Nicole Morgenstern, Samantha Slater, Emma Reilly, Maggie Nespole, Jordan Wischusen, Jade Castle, Taylor Herzlich, Lucie Caputo, and Kerri Mugavero have been busy perfecting all their roles for the drama show.

The girls have also been flaunting their athletic abilities across the board at camp! We’ve been seeing some fancy footwork from Camryn Oliva and Brooke Potvin while Paige Nespole is showing off her basketball skills to everyone at camp. Emily Siems and Maya McCullough are working hard at newspaper, getting the scoop around camp.  And Sydney Freeman has been playing tons of gaga!

In the pool, everyone has been cooling off and enjoying both their lessons and free time! Some of the most enthusiastic swimmers are Brianna Cain, Olivia Mercado, Jolie Pew, Ashley Annunziata, Rachel Grieco and Tatiana Minieri. They’ve all been working on their strokes and getting a great break from the heat! And…all the girls in G5 now have green bracelets!

Gianna Mosca, Avery Cottingham, Sarah Taylor, Jocelyn Fisher, amd Allyson Sciulli have been creating some wonderful creations in ceramics and arts and crafts. They think of new things every day!

As expected, the second half of camp did not disappoint! The girls have had a ton of fun making banners for Carnival Day, teaming up with other groups for Apache Relay, searching the camp for Treasure Hunt Day and getting ready for all of their performances the last week. We’ve really had a great summer together!

B6

The second half of camp has taken B6 on many exciting trips and the campers in this group have enjoyed a spectacular experience this summer.  Jared Walker, Michael Bernzweig, and Thomas Zarb have competed with fierce competitiveness at every athletic facility at camp.  Kenneth Mclean, Avi Krinsky, Maurice Bichoneau, and Jack Fiore have excelled as tennis whiz kids on the Brookhaven tennis courts, all claiming “King of the Court Honors”.  Sean McCarthy, Jay Weintraub, and Chris Caracappa have mastered the hockey ring and have become even more dominant since getting playing tips  with a New  York Islander visit to camp.  Troy Goode, Alexander Menihan and Ethan Grow have shown there potential as future basketball stars by continued dominance at knockout. Super swimmers Charlie Shemet and Benjamin Ellman have amazed all in competitions at the Brookhaven pool and have also shown their great swimming talents on the field trips to the beach.  Robert Kennedy, Carlo Di Marco, and Michael Eannuzzi have showed their amazing athletic talent as they led their Apache relay teams to success at the Apache relay competitions.  Joseph Cartisano, Jacob Senft, and Richard Barnes have supported the group’s artistic pursuits at Arts and Crafts.   Our novice golfers, Jovian Schaeffer and Kevin Engel have made great improvements on the driving range.  B6 has many talented individuals and have excelled at exploring all that Brookhaven camp has to offer.

                                                         Pre-Teens

So many memories, so little time!!! It is hard to believe that eight fantastic weeks of camp are coming to an end. All the Pre-Teens had a blast this summer at Brookhaven. Jesse Anzalone, Christina Koehnke, Nicole Sommers, and Cory Vonbraunsberg loved the many field trips they went on; Splish Splash and the Mets game were among their favorites. James Catterson, Matthew Gercke, Daniel Lilie and Eddie Reilly were always up for a fun game of ga-ga. Boating was a number one club choice for Erin Cottingham, Hanna Haug, Matthew Morgenstern , Michael Oher, and Colin Regensburg. They love rowing around the beautiful lake, or they kick back as a counselor takes the oars.

There were many creative minds working this summer. During ceramics club, Ashley Baldelli, Alyssa Delaney, Amanda Happaney, Meagan Klamm, Gabrielle Kolarik and Alyssa Misiano created some magnificent pieces. Watch out Robin Hood! Tristan Makinen, Andrew Santonocito, Stephen Sanzone and Nicholas Kavanagh-Perez are perfecting their each individual shooting technique. There are also many talented tennis players among the Pre-Teens. Samantha Giacoia, Stephanie Robertson, Livia Sanders, and Joshua Spagnoli all have a backhand to rival Roger Federer.

Right next door at softball, you will find Brittany Ball, Aiden Boehm, Samantha Davidman, Chris Gentile, and Reese Lebit hitting numerous homers. Another few short steps away, you will find Dante Aguirre, and Nicholas Vigliotti vying for the title in a game of Knockout. Once again, the drama show did not disappoint. Some of our shining stars were Julia Berkowitz, Isabel Fritz, Alexandra Neftleberg and Ronelle Purificato, AMAZING!!  Take a walk on over to the driving range to spot Daaron Williams teeing off on the green.

Luke Damenti, Joshua Privett and Peter Theodorellis just might pull a hat trick during an intense game of hockey. Brookhaven may have some future Olympic swimmers. Jacqueline Johnson, Gabrielle Perez, Lauren Rubenstein and Rima Shah are hard to beat during the camp water game races. If the afternoon calls for gymnastics, stop by the tent to see Kayleigh Balcarcel, Lara Howell, Annie Mc Connach and Alexa Pinnavaia. They love to show off their skills showing real strength and flexibility. As we sit here wiping away the tears and saying our goodbyes, we are already thinking about creating new memories next summer at Brookhaven Country Day Camp. Have a wonderful year everyone!!!

                                                       Junior Teens

Wow! Where did the summer of 2011 go? The Junior Teens all had an amazing summer at Brookhaven! Let’s take a look back at all the fun times they had. Everyone had a blast at Adventureland, especially Trevor Church when he won that gigantic bowling pin. By the way, where did you put that thing? LOL!! The Deep Sea Fishing excursion was another big hit among the Junior Teens. Imani Davis was the toughest competition, catching a total of seven fish in 20 minutes. Putting their best game forward during the Apache Relay were no other than Sabrina Gisondi, Amanda Ress-Liere and Asia Sallah. Great job girls!!

Archery was a very popular club this session. If you meandered up the hill, you could see Morgan Cohen, Nicholas Tomanelli, Raymond San Andres and Emily Tobin trying their hardest to land a bulls-eye. Brookhaven could start their own NBA team with all the talented basketball players such as Connor Colpas, Brandon Combs, Heather Heingartner, Matthew Stoppelli, and James Shultz. The talent is not short on the soccer field; come and watch Spencer Payton as he expertly dribbles the ball.

How are you feeling? Hot! Hot! Hot! Come take a dip in one of the sparkling pools and watch Benjamin Bocz, Dylan Delaney, Ashley Herkommer and Michael Iannaccone as they perfect their dives. Brendan Frances and Eric Saunders had so much fun playing the new game ga-ga. The Junior Teens are all sad to say goodbye to the summer of 2011, but are already anticipating next year as they move on to Teen Tour!!

Why I Like Softball

By: Kayla Patrick – G4

What I like about softball is that the specialist, Nick lets me and my group in the batting cage to practice hitting.  It is so much fun because I get to practice my batting skills.

Whenever I go to softball and we play a game I like to be at first base because it is my responsibility to get the other team players out! Also if we play a game of softball I like to be in the field first because you also get to practice your throwing skills.  That is all the reasons why I like to play softball.

Summer Book Review

By: Maya McCullough – G5

When you go home and don’t know what to play, what do you do? You turn on the T.V. A study has shown that watching too much T.V. affects your sleep and can even kill brain cells!

This summer, encourage your child to read and play. Do you have a little girl who doesn’t know what book suits them best? Sit them down with a copy of “Anne of Green Gables”. This novel is a children’s classic, perfect for a rainy day. As I read the book, I noticed the book followed Anne through her mishaps and happy times, and  I felt as if I  were right there [in the story]”. And for bored young men who enjoy mystery and action, the complete revised collection of Sherlock Holmes is a wonderful choice. So get reading with your friends and family this summer!

Rainy Day

By: Maya McCullough – G5

Cold and bitter,

Wet and full of misery,

Despairing in cold,

Forlorn and wishful,

When does the thunder stop?

Trees

By: Maya McCullough – G5

At camp, we are family,

And represented by each tree,

A growing branch for every child

On a tree designed to make us smile,

With every leaf; our knowledge grows,

The happier we are,

The higher it grows

I’ll love my tree forever more,

This camp was made for me

A Poem by: Maya McCullough – G5

It is best for my concentration,

When something you’re having me write,

That I’m given complete isolation,

Or my mind is as black as the night

A Song by: Maya McCullough – G5

Why does the wind blow my merry mood away?

Off in a foreign land to which I cannot stray

And the wind blew it back here, what good does that do me,

I’ve just gone out in search of it and now I’m on the sea

Movie Review by: Carlo DiMarco

Rise of the Planet of the Apes

This movie was better than I thought it would be. The computer effects were amazing. The type of movie it was is Drama/Action. It had a good story to it. It was very original. I say you should see it.

Beauty and the Beast by: Emily Siems – G5

I am writing about Beauty and the Beast. That was the play we did for the second session. Kaitlyn played Belle, Chris playedthe Beast, Lumiere, the candle Stick, was played by Taylor.  Mrs. Potts was played by Maddy. Anna was Chip, Mrs. Potts’ son. Cogsworth was played by Maggie. The Prince was Griffin, Gaston was played by Nicole and Lefou was played by Jade. Parts of the narration were done by Isabel, who also played her violin for the audience.  Lorian Dean (the director) is did a great job. The actors and actresses were phenomenal at acting out their characters. You also sometimes can tell personalities of the actors and actresses from the role that they play. Parts of the play had to be taken away so that the play would be 30 minutes instead of 2 hours. Sometimes there were extra practices to make sure that the play would be perfect. That is what the drama show is about.

Life as Camp Maintenance by: Maya McCullough and Emily Siems – G5

Imagine if every day you picked up trash, mowed the lawn, cared for the garden, went around making repairs and set up for almost every event at camp. That’s the daily routine of a camp maintenance man. Being maintenance is an important job, and it’s hard work. It can also be dangerous. We interviewed Rob, who is the head of maintenance to find out more about the daily routine of maintaining the camp.

Q: What does your job as a general maintenance supervisor entail?

A: Keeping the camp safe and all the toys running well. Keeping the place clean and lawns maintained.

Q: How did you become a maintenance supervisor?

A: I was interested in fixing things and now I keep the place running nice. I work here all year round.

Q: Is there a most enjoyed task you do?

A: Fixing sprinklers and test driving buses.

Q: Did you ever exterminate bees?

A: Yes!

2011

A note from Michael, Neil and Matthew

Summer 2011, our 43rd summer has begun with overwhelming success. Our entire staff, veterans and rookies alike, has been absolutely fantastic, not only in the supervision of every camper, but in the planning, coordinating and direction of all regular and special events. Hats off awards have been a tradition at Brookhaven for many years and we would like to give a special “Hats Off Award” to all our campers and staff alike.

The first four weeks of camp has come and gone very quickly and we have seen lots and lots of smiles and good times. We look forward to the next four weeks of fun in the sun and creating many more memories. We hope everyone enjoys the next four weeks as much as they have the first four.

MINI/NURSERY

The summer is here for all Brookhaven campers.  The Mini Day/Nursery group has been so excited to do all the activities camp has to offer.  Taylor Califano, Vanessa Russo, Anthony Calabro and Tyler Klein are the first ones on line at the pool to get a cool splash. Kirsten Petrow, Kaitlyn Schuessler and Anna Sclafani are the artists in the group.  They love our time spent at Jr. Arts & Crafts and Ceramics.   Our big red slide down at the obstacle course is such a hit this year for Claire Sclafani and Natalie KalmanAshlyn Manion and Nicholas Costa are the actors of our group and cannot wait to sing and play games at Drama.  Fun town is for everyone that loves to have fun while pretend playing at our little town.  Ryan Morrissey, Luke Rizzi and Aidan Eck can’t wait to get there to start those engines for those “race cars".  Sophia Ross and Logan McGregor are our nature lovers.  They are great with the animals and love doing projects down at Nature.   Boating is a favorite for our campers.  Paul Zorn and Allesia Rodriguez especially enjoy the time to relax on the boats and enjoy the scenes on the lake.  Sophia Stadler is our future gymnast.  She loves to show us how to “flip and roll” at gymnastics.  Abigail Christie loves to pick up the tennis racket and play ball at tennis.  Can she be the next US Open winner?  The scouts for the Knicks should be coming to check out Lucas Delaney and Carson Campbell.  These boys like to show off their skills at Jr. Basketball.  The Mini Day/Nursery group love whatever we do here at Brookhaven Country Day Camp and are just warming up for the second half of camp!

G1

Brookhaven Summer ’11 is HERE!!!!  G1 is having a blast in our first half. We are off to a wonderful start and making great camp memories.

In G1-A Kaitlyn Aberle and Sara Christie can be found sculpting, and molding their ceramic projects to perfection. At soccer you can find Isabella Cashel, Emily Cashel and Sophia Over kicking the balls straight into the goal. Swim is a hit with all the girls in the group, but Ty-Aja Wilson, Francesca Turrigiano and Erin Peskin are the mermaids in the pool, constantly talking to fishes, and never wanting to leave the pool area. When it’s time for tennis you can see Emma Parante and Kaitlin Stratemeier showing the other girls how to hold the tennis rackets, and never missing a ball as they come by. When it’s time for boating you can find Carlie Manzella and Samantha Mazur looking for the turtles that live in the lake, while we are rowing around the island.  Leah Ferrara and Isabella Calabro really keep their eyes on the ball, when giving their great swing at softball.

In G1-B speeding through the obstacle course you can find Amanda Abbey, Kaitlyn Hoey and Isabella Smith.  After those girls go around the course, nothing but dust is seen. Emily Ammann and Raichel Fox can be found at the gymnastics tent doing superb cartwheels, and flawless knee-touches. Under the dance tent Amaya Hollington, Trinity Castle and Lily Savnick are our freeze dance winners. Ava Bellera and Dakota Riggio love the new game at camp called Ga-Ga, their agility and speed make them the girls to watch out for.  Lily Rubenstein and Annah Wildner can usually be found adding more glitter and more color when we are at arts and crafts.  Emma Mosca and Gianna Benedetto show amazing concentration in the hockey rink.  They always know just when to hit the puck for a point.

The G1 girls have also been learning and practicing dance and gymnastics routines for the shows at the end of the 1st half of camp. We have made great memories this first half, but we can’t wait to meet Anna Dratell, so we can continue with our CAMP-TASTIC SUMMER!!!

The B1 campers have had a great time during the first few weeks of Summer 2011 at Brookhaven Day Camp! We have already started making camp memories and are eager for the rest of the summer to continue!

B1 has some expert tennis players who are our superstars on the court! Hunter Wilson and Liam Schuessler have nearly perfected their serves! Jacob Rentz, James Massaro and Ryan Bender could easily put Andre Agassi to shame with their forehands that they’ve been practicing for weeks!

The big hitters in softball are Matthew Weiner and Salvatore Morande. They nearly guarantee a hit!  The team is lucky to have Nicholas Kozlowski and Ryan Whiffen to catch those homeruns!  At basketball we have Salvatore Meloni, Connor Buonconsiglio and Nicholas Oliva showing off their dribbling and shooting skills.

Ivan Lopez and Hunter Prescott are the strong kickers on the soccer field. Carlo Ponce and Brandon Makowski could easily run alongside the World Cup Soccer team with Andrew Trebilcock!  Our NHL all-stars include Patrick Carrier, Ryan Pfister and Shane Sukow!  They have great energy and are our true sprinters in the hockey rink!

Our professionals in Drama class are J.Alexander Garcia and Alessandro Robbins. They have whimsical, creative minds along with Owen Lazarus and Anthony Costa who are great at Arts & Crafts!

Some of our brave boaters include Anthony Morano, Evan Riley, Walter Silbert and Riley McGregor. They are eager to float around the lake and have great boating etiquette!

We have some true fish in our school of campers! Timothy Zelinski and Drew Feinstein could easily compete with Michael Phelps for an Olympic gold medal.  Logan O’Sullivan and Patrick Brideson are expert swimmers and will only get better throughout the summer!   Sam Fiore and Austin Sullivan love the challenges of the obstacle course and going down the Big Red Slide.

The first half of the summer has been loaded with fun for everyone. The B1 group cannot wait for the next four weeks!

G2

The girls in the G2 group are having a blast at Brookhaven Country Day Camp this summer!  We have lots of activities and special events planned this summer, and we are glad to see that all the girls are truly enjoying themselves.

Our wonderfully choreographed gymnastics routine is a hit with Taylor Dixon, Arianna Polychronakos, Samantha Sacks, Abby Devita, Colette Williamson and Samantha Steiner. Showing off their moves and shaking their tail feathers at dance are Julianna Russo, Jalynn Williams, Alyssa Evans and Isadora Luce. There are quite a few great swimmers who seem as comfortable as a fish in the water! They are Sofia Auffret, Savannah Prescott, Chelsey Weber, Lindsay Desiano, Summer Potvin, Celia Caputo, Arianna Rodriguez and Kennedy Royal.

Olivia Baumann is burning holes through those baseball gloves on the softball field. Lily Ellman and Hannah Ehlich make it seem effortless when they shoot hoops on the basketball court.

Molly Grow and Lanie Furrer love to go to the nature center where they can get in touch with Mother Nature and help take care of our farm animals.  Laura Alt and Sophie Meeks narrate fantastic stories impromptu in Drama class.  Finally, we have some future Picassos in our group.  In Arts and Crafts, Jessica Penyy, Amanda Pew, Brenna Samuels, Amelia Lowder and Heather Sponton have really produced some amazing work.  In Ceramics class, Genesis De Castro, Samantha Cavorti and Angelica Paniagua have molded and painted some gorgeous pieces out of clay.

We’ve already said goodbye to our friend Gloria Leahy who left at the end of week 2 and we miss her already!

B2

The first few weeks of the 2011 Brookhaven Country Day Camp have been quite exciting!  Getting to know all of the kids and each of their unique personalities has been great!  We are all looking forward to making lots of awesome camp memories this summer!

A few of our campers have really shown a love of the water! Julian Fox, Nicholas Walker and Luca Perricone are regular guppies in the pool!  We really love spending time out on the lake on our boats too!  Jake Morreale, Joshua Powers and Nathan Barry enjoy going out on the boats with the staff while Michael Tesser, Ryan Lynch, Preston Gerena and Luke Nespole love being captains of their own boats!

Cops and Robbers is a big hit on our playground! You’ll always catch Jory Russo, Kevin Hough, Evan Adams, Matt Maiorano,  Shane Von Tronk, and Ryan Santos running toward the playground to get the game started! So you think you can dance? Well, Tariq Earl knows he can dance and loves to show off his moves to the other campers!

We have a few future Derek Jeter’s in our group this year! James Morrissey, Ethan Schatz, and Michael Stratemeier really enjoy running the bases and hitting those home runs!  Ga-Ga is a big hit on the field with Tyler Young and Michael Sarich.

Halloween Day brought out the super hero in one of our campers! We mistook Mason Nijkamp as a real life SUPERMAN!  Not to be outdone, Philip Hirst came in as an astronaut.  He must have just missed the last NASA shuttle into space!

Casey Fleischer, Calvin Pedatella, Connor Vanella, Ethan Vermaat, Warren Coburn, Andrew Fasano, Aaron Borsuk, and Thomas Engel are always asking what’s next because they can’t decide what they like best!  Maybe it’s the big red slide that they like the most!

At the end of the day we can always count on Evan Klein and Landon Alpert to chat about the day’s events and they are always sure to tell me what they liked best that day! We are looking forward to meeting our new campers, David Rumsey and Aidan McGregor, in the coming weeks too!

Everyone is having a great time at camp so far, and it’s only going to get better from here!  The B2 boys and the rest of the counselors are excited to see what the second half of camp will bring!

G3

G3 has been enjoying the gorgeous weather so far this summer.  While it is warm enough to swim, most days have also been cool enough for us to appreciate the time spent playing a variety of sports as well. Our great group of girls welcomes Alexa Romero to our group the 4th week of camp and we are all excited to show her how great BCDC is.

All of our girls have been working hard preparing for the shows this week but that doesn’t mean that we haven’t been having fun.  At dance, our version of party in the USA features Cassidy Truocchio as Jay-Z and Emma Unverzagt as Britney.   Chayanne Orengo, Kate Morano and Makenna Savnik are dazzling in the dance tent. Gymnastics is where, in words of our gymnastics song, “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” and we do exactly that.  We really love to watch the terrific tumbling of Vivian Fritz and Paige Potvin.  The spectacular splits of Autumn Herkommer, Madison Feinstein and Sarah Kruzynski also shouldn’t be missed.  Drama is also a lot of fun for everyone.  From charades to music making we are always sure to have a blast at this area.

We have two new additions to our sporting line up this summer, Ga-ga and wiffle ball.  Ga-ga has been a huge hit with G3 and the girls are always ready for a good game.  Mia Delaney and Grace Polak are gifted Ga-ga players.  Just across the way at soccer, we have discovered some new games like sideline soccer.  These games have made our soccer experience better than ever before.    Bianca McCarthy is always ready to jump into the goal.  She makes an excellent goalie.  Other splendid soccer players include Danielle Scarfogliero, Hannah Cianciotto and Alicia Sanzone.  Is anyone ready for a game of softball?  You don’t have to ask the G3 girls twice.  Whether fielding or batting, Yesenia Lopez, Amanda Gentile and Gabriella Mosca do a super job.  We are having a great time golfing on the driving range this year.  Skyler Yuengling, Olivia Paquette and Gina Borzelleri have those golf balls flying half way across north field.  Horse is a word heard often at basketball but don’t worry, there isn’t a horse on the court.  This is where Mia Seitles, Deanna Kos and Elaina Varriale play a brilliant basketball game called horse.  We all enjoyed Wacky Relay Day.  Patricia Jean-Baptiste, Chelsea Agnew and Angelic Baez were wonderful as they led their teams towards victory.

What a great summer we have had so far!  We can’t wait to see what adventures are waiting for us as the summer continues.

B3

The B3 boys have had a wonderful first half of camp at BCDC.  We have already made great memories and are looking forward to making many more!

When it comes to swimming, Zachary Adelson, Jordan Adelson, Evan Fisher, John Mcguire, Lucas Moghadam and Robert Honey are the fastest swimmers in the group!  When it comes to a race, no one can declare who came in first place.  If you play Hockey, watch out for Robert Capp, Jordan Carrasquillo, Andrew Steiner, Brian Taylor, Brendan Hoey and Kyle Jones.  They are so fast; you can't even blink because they will come out of nowhere and try to get the puck away from you to score a goal.  When it comes to creativity, Matthew Evans, Michael Burghardt, Robert Becherer, Nicholas San Andres and Jonathan Fischer are the ones to look for at Jr. Arts and Crafts.  They use their imagination in everything they work on!

Jeremy Finkelstein, Ryan Singleton, James Walsh, Daniel Weiner and Noah Goldstein play like the All-Stars at Basketball!  They dribble, move fast and shoot the ball in the net!  The basket may be high, but don't be fooled by their height because they can shoot it like the pros!  Soccer could be a tough sport but not when it comes to Dominick Benedetto, Duncan Byrne and Connor Roach.  They are all focused on the ball and know just what to do with it.  They run fast while dribbling and passing the ball until one of them scores a goal.

Batters up!  Russell Lipsky, Joshua Archibald, Jordan Sundel, Ryan Henzel, Thomas Keeling, Cameron Lee and Peter Scalabrino love softball.  They are always ready to bat or play the field.  They hardly get any strikes because they are so focused on how the pitcher throws the ball.  When it comes to the outfield, they are prepared for what is coming for them.  Thomas Cashel, Markens Claude and Christian Giacobbe are terrific at making objects out of clay at Ceramics.  Their projects come out looking professional!  Golf can be a tough sport, but not when it comes to Benjamin Mercado, Nico Aliotta, and Spencer Lebit.  These boys concentrate on the ball, know their strength and know how to hit the ball to make sure it gets in the hole, and it usually does!

We cannot wait to meet all the new boys joining B3 for the second half of the summer!  They are sure to have a blast like we are!!

G4

G4 is full of amazing skill, talent, spirit, and positive attitude.  These girls bring their energy and enthusiasm to every activity from fitness course to obstacle course.  While Jacqueline Harkins can be found on the lake in a kayak, Rachel Weber is ready to get people out in Ga Ga.  Sarah Montefusco, Julia Portnoy, and Rachel Barrale are our dancing queens.  Getting ready to put on a great show at gymnastics our Cassandra De Stefano, Anna Makboulian, Kayla Misiano, Makayla Russo and Olivia Young.  Kayla Patrick, Hailey Schatz, Catherine Clarke, and Nicole Cordes are being creative in ceramics and arts and crafts.  Showing off their stokes in the pool are Lily Dunbar, Cassandra Mc Comb, Grace Tribilcock, and Carley Kanka.  Whether she is hitting a home run or fielding a grounder Brooke Rubenstein is ready for a game of softball.  Katherine Thompsen is queen of the tennis court.  Scoring or stopping goals Julia Desiano, Catherine Robles, Gabriella Rodriguez, and Kaitlyn Seeger can not be beat on the soccer field.  With this group of smart, talented, and skillful young ladies it is easy to see why G4 is TOTALLY AWESOME !!!

B5

Hello all and welcome to another year at Brookhaven Country Day Camp. School may have just ended, but we are already making fun memories of all our experiences we are having at camp! Just take a look at what B5 has been up to this summer.

We have a welcomed and new addition this year to camp, the gaga ring. You catch Griffin Bell, Brett Bellera, Dylan Kos, and Kyle Ress-Liere dominating the game each round. Next door our soccer stars Erik Andersen, Emmett Moloney, and Bryce Wadsworth are all performing like members of the U.S.A. World Cup Team. Also nearby you can catch Nicholas McCarthy, Richard Baumann, and Keith Winfrey perfecting their serve.

Derek Jeter may have just gotten his 3000th hit, but he has nothing on William Murphy, Joshua Tesser, Eric Stenzel, Matthew Walker, and Thomas Fasano as they each perform excellently in softball. In hockey you can find Will Sukow, Tyler Haug, James Roach, and Zachary Lauritano jumping into a breakaway to score a goal. Nearby in basketball you’ll find Michael Balsamo, Michael Daniels, and Xavier Thompson taking that perfect 3 point shot. And let’s not forget about the mighty swimmers in the group. You have Eric Greco, Matthew Sirico, Michael Kruzynski, Henry Shemet, Clyde Jean-Baptiste, and Michael Pizzichemi swimming like dolphins.

Any time that you are near the north end of camp, be sure to stop by arts and crafts to see Colin Mc Cready and Gabriel Smith working on a new and unique project. Also up there you have future captains Nicholas Parks, Jared Becker, and Daniel Roach ready to set sail on the lake in boating. Be sure to stop by drama as well, to see Puss in Boots with Michael Koenig being one of the star actors, who will surely entertain you.

The first half of camp has been blast for all. B5 cannot wait to see what is in store for the second half of camp!

The girls have also been showcasing their athletic abilities across the board at camp! We’ve been seeing some fancy footwork from Paige Nespole and Brooke Potvin at soccer. Tatiana Stevens and Maggie Nespole have been enjoying shooting hoops at basketball and softball star Emma Reilly has been showing off her textbook swing.  On the tennis court, Brianna Cain, is showing off her new racquet and new talents. Jordan Wischhusen and Emily Siems love competing in gaga ball, one of the biggest hits of the summer. Sydney Freeman is participating in archery and disc golf and really having fun in both.

In the pool, everyone has been cooling off and enjoying both their lessons and free time! Some of the most enthusiastic swimmers are Olivia Mercado, Jolie Pew, Ashley Annunziata and Camryn Oliva. They’ve all been working on their strokes and getting a great break from the heat!

The creative bunch of G5 has been coming back with some really amazing projects! Jocelyn Fisher and Tiara Serrano have been diligently working on their impressive lanyards. Lucie Caputo and Gianna Mosca have been creating some wonderful ceramics projects.  G5 had a phenomenal time during the first half of camp and can’t wait to see what the next half will bring!

B6

This year B6 has many energetic campers with a great spirit for adventure. Evan McGlone and Benjamin Ellman are commanders of the hockey ring.  Charlie Shemet, Robert Kennedy, Carlo Dimarco, and Joseph Cartisano are masters of swim at the pool.  On the soccer field, superior skill is always exhibited by Jovian Schaeffer, Sean Mccarthy, and Jared Walker.  Our tennis superstars are Christopher Caracappa, Michael BernzweigMichael Eannuzzi, Kevin Engel and Kenneth McLean are kings of the court at basketball.  Avi Krinsky is our expert at the driving range hitting balls into the far ends of the campgrounds. Showing true talent on the softball field are Jay Weintraub, Jack Fiore and Troy Goode.  The absolute love for nature and arts and crafts were strong characteristics for our future archeologists Jacob Senft and Richard Barnes. Our future political leaders include Ethan Grow, Jeremy Franz, and Thomas Zarb.  There skillful speaking, politeness, and kindness to all make them everyone’s friend.

G6

Welcome to the summer of 2011 at Brookhaven Country Day Camp! The girls of G6 are renewing old friendships as well as forming new ones. Everyone is excited about the many trips we will be going on this summer. The first trip to The Sports Arena was a big hit with Amanda Morreale. Not only did she have fun playing all the sports, but she won 1000 tickets on one of the arcade games. Way to go Amanda! One of the new games at BCDC, Gaga, is a big hit with Isabella Rodriguez and Krystle Sclafani they have both one several games already!

Cierra Bosshart and Alexa Mosca love going to arts and crafts to express their creativity.  Avary Petracca also has a creative flair that is sure to impress; she enjoys visiting ceramics. On a hot day head on down to one of the three inviting swimming pools and you will find Cassie Lee and Caitlin Schleede cooling off during a cannonball contest. Elizabeth Faulkner likes to cool off down at the beautiful lake as she has fun paddling around on a kayak.

G6 has many talented girls that enjoy the fine arts. It was a joy to watch Francesca Bryan and Olivia Bush shine on stage during the first drama production. Also on the stage, Heather Alvarado, showed everyone her amazing dance moves. There may be some future Olympian gymnasts here at Brookhaven. Alexandra Mc Issaic and Haley Rosenblatt make front and backhand springs look effortless.

There are also many athletic girls among G6. During a game of softball, Molly Searight and Sophia Theodorellis can hit the ball right out of the camp. Over on the soccer field, you may find Jacqueline Bukzin and Megan Stoppelli playing hard. They hold their own even when playing against the boys of B6. Take a walk on over to the pines and you can catch Gillian Cordes and Mackenzie McAllister refining their volleyball skills. During senior camp club, head on up to archery and see Cierra Dolan and Julia Makboulian let the arrows fly! The girls are all sad that session one went by so quickly, but they can’t wait to create more fond memories during session two. Bring on the Apache Relay!!!

Pre-Teens

Our summer has gotten off to a super start at Brookhaven Country Day Camp.  We are having such fun times on the camp grounds as well as some cool adventures on our trips!  Camp memories are already being made!

Our trips are loved by many of our campers especially, Dante Aguirre, Chris Gentile, Matthew Gercke, Daniel Lilie, and Stephen Sanzone. So far we have been to The Sports Arena, Adventureland, Boomers, Splish Splash and the beach.  Our campers are looking forward to all the other outings we get to take. Livia Sanders, Lara Howell, Annie Mc Connach and Alexa Pinnavaia can be seen doing cartwheels and flips on the gymnastics mats.

Our little fishes of the summer working on their swim strokes are Meagan Klamm, Stephanie Robertson, Lauren Rubenstein, Jacqueline Johnson, Alyssa Misiano, Luke Damenti and Cory Vonbraunsberg. Looking like an NHL pro is Matthew Morgenstern. Inspired by the USA women’s soccer team, Ashley Baldelli and Gabrielle Kolarik, hope that one day they too can play soccer in the World Cup.

Showing off their basketball skills and of course hopes of being knockout champs are Edward Reilly, Peter Theodorellis, Reese Lebit and Nicholas Vigliotti.  Andrew Santonocito and Joshua Spagnoli like working on their tennis games, while Brittany Ball and Samantha Davidman, are all-stars when it comes to playing softball.  Showing off her acting skills is our own Julia Berkowitz. Setting out in the water are Hanna Haug, Jillian Leahy, Gabriella Perez and Michael Oher in their boats and kayaks.

Having never heard of the game Ga-Ga, the campers were quick to teach me.  Kayleigh Balcarcel, Daniel Batton, James Catterson, Alyssa Delaney, Isabel Fritz, Amanda Happaney, Christina Koehnke, Joshua Privett, Nicole Sommers and Jazlyn Winbush are always ready to get into the octagon to ga-ga-ga!  As you can see Ga-Ga is a big hit with the campers. We also welcomed future soccer star Daaron Williams to our group.  The beginning of the summer has been enjoyable and there is only more fun to be had as we move toward the second part of the summer!

Junior Teens

It’s another great summer here at Brookhaven Country Day Camp.  We are having such much fun at activities here in camp.  Even the trips we went on were awesome.  Every one enjoyed the trips especially, Benjamin Bocz, Morgan Cohen, Ashley Herkommer, Michael Iannaccone, and Nicholas Tomanelli. Some of our fondest memories were from the trips we took with Teen Tour.

Swimming is still a big hit with Junior Teens. Connor Colpas, Dylan Delaney, Brendan Frances, Carissa Navarra, Nyere Neale, and James Schultz took to the pools like true water enthusiasts.  Our future Stanley Cup recipients  are Trevor Church and Asia Sallah. Although the USA women’s soccer team lost to Japan, Mikaela Eck, hopes that one day she too can play soccer in the World Cup.

The NBA is going to fall over themselves to recruit Spencer Payton, Raymond San Andres and Matthew Stoppelli.  Eric Saunders likes working on his tennis game, while Heather Heingartner is an all-star when it comes to playing softball.  Busting some dance moves is our own Sabrina Gisondi.

After a glorious return to our camp, Ga-Ga is once again all the rage.  Imani Davis and Amanda Ress-Liere were two of our standout players.  The first half of camp has been a blast.  The next session should be even better.
